Overseeding
We apply Rye grass seed over the lawn to improve density and/or increase species composition. We use Rye as it looks good, germinates quickly and has good wear tolerance. For best results apply water regularly to keep damp. The more consistent you are with watering the quicker the results.
Re-seeding
This involves turning over the soil to improve structure, then consolidating to firm up the surface, first level by moving soil from high spots to low using a rake, consolidate again and then raking and leveling before seeding with Rye.
Turfing
This involves turning over the soil to improve structure, then consolidating to firm the surface, first level by moving soil from high spots to low spots using a rake, consolidate again, final level and then lay the turf.
Aeration (Decompaction)
We use a garden fork to create holes in the surface and pull back to heave the surface. This is done across the lawn to allow CO2 out and oxygen in. It also aids drainage which can help battle moss. It encourages the roots to go looking for water further down, improving drought tolerance.
Aeration (Thatch buster)
This involves using a sarrel roller once a month to create lots of little holes across the surface. This allows air into the thatch layer to aid decomposition. This increases the efficacy of the lawn health plan in decomposing deep seated thatch. Add the bio booster to further increase bacteria levels and speed up decomposition.
Top-dressing
This involves applying different materials over the lawn and then brushed in. It can be used to dilute thatch, improve drainage or improve moisture holding of the soil.
Plant booster
This is a granular fertiliser application of micronutrients that improve plant health and increase pH to allow better nutrient availability.
Bio booster
This is a granular application of organic material to increase bacterial populations. Aeration techniques can greatly improve the efficacy of this treatment.
Mowing
We use cutting edge battery mowers to cut the grass. We cut around 25mm which is ideal for Rye and lawns in general. It’s long enough to reduce stress on the lawn and short enough to encourage good density. We recommend regular mowing to avoid taking too much off in one go and to encourage tillering for better density.
